From the intake and beyond...

Now it really begins! The intake is complete, and I am ready to provide you with optimal guidance in the loving and careful preparation for the arrival of your baby. I ask you to carefully review the care files you have received. In these, you will find tips for preparing for the delivery, as well as information about the postpartum period.

Maternity care can start from 37 weeks…

Step 1, slowly inviting your baby to be born

Your pregnancy is now undergoing a transformation. The final trimester has arrived. The advice is to make more time for yourself. Time, rest, and attention to your pregnancy can help you both deepen communication. Step by step.

Enjoy a nice walk or watch your favorite movie on the streaming service. Place your hand on your belly, a conscious coming together of the two of you.

Do you enjoy meditating, swimming, or going out to dinner together? By all means, make time for these things and consciously take the little being growing inside you along. An introduction to your world from the safe belly of "mama".

Step 2, a practical start at your actual beginning

We will also take a closer look at the practical side of your final semester. Now is a good time to review what you need for the arrival of your baby. Welcoming your child begins during the birth itself. In the booklet, you will find lists of necessities for both your home birth and your hospital birth.

For a home birth, it is pleasant for your baby to be placed in a warm spot—ideally on your chest—so that you can start skin-to-skin together. For the maternity care provider and the midwife, it is essential that a maternity kit is present, preferably in its original packaging. If you have put together your own kit, ensure that the maternity care provider and midwife have easy access to it, for example in the baby's room.

Also, don't forget to make the hot water bottles visible and lay out two outfits in different sizes, so your baby can wear those first.

Step 3, arranging maternity care

From 37 weeks of pregnancy onwards, it is possible to give birth at home, provided, of course, that no complications arise! I will not be assisting with your delivery; you have your midwife for that. However, I will be there for you. For all your questions, a listening ear, or perhaps even a relaxing massage. You can also turn to your midwife for both medical and emotional support. As soon as you notice labor starting, I would appreciate it if you let me know so that I can prepare my gear and be there for you and the midwife. I think it would be fantastic to support you the moment you meet that little miracle that is already with you for the first time.
